How to Knit a Beautiful Scarf Using Lion Brand Yarns Touch of Alpaca


What You Need
Needles: 5mm straight or circular needles
Yarn: Lion Brand Yarns Touch of Alpaca, 90% acrylic 10% alpaca. 622 yards (I used 1 skein of Bonus Bundle 415 yards and 1 skein of the 207 yards of colorway Crimson, or you could use 3 skeins of the regular ToA)
Gauge
18 stitches/20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette
Finished Garment Size
Length: 64 inches, Width: 10 inches
Skills Needed & Abbreviations
- CO: cast on
- BO: bind off
- RS: right side
- WS: wrong side
- St: stitch/es
- Rep: repeat
- K: knit
- P: purl
- Sl st kw: slip right-hand needle into the 1st stitch on the left-hand needle like you are going to knit it. Without knitting it, simply slip it to the right-hand needle. Continue knitting as usual.
- Yo: yarn over
- Ssk: slip, slip, knit. Slip the first stitch as if to knit onto right-hand needles, slip the second stitch as if to knit, then slide the left-hand needle into the front part of both stitches and knit them together.
- K2tog: knit 2 together
- PM: place marker
- P3tog: purl 3 together
- C12b rib: cable 12 back rib. Slip 6 stitches onto cable needle. With cable needle held in back of work, [p1, k1] x3 rib, then [p1, k1] x3 rib from cable needle.
- C12f rib: cable 12 forward rib. Slip 6 stitches onto cable needle. With cable needle held in front of work, [p1, k1] x3 rib, then [p1, k1] x3 rib from cable needle.
