How to Crochet a Decorative Cupcake Towel with a Cherry Button

You’ll Need:
2 balls of Lily Sugar ‘n’ Cream in colors Soft Ecru, Sunshine, and Hot Blue (1 ball for each color, 2 colors for every towel);
Crochet hooks 5 and 5.5 mm;
Yarn needle.
Size:
19 inches long and 13 1/2 inches wide after it is buttoned up.
Stitches Control:
16 stitches in wave pattern = 5 ¼ inches.
Notes
Beginning chain 1 and chain 2 count as a stitch. Starting from Row 3, your last stitch will be worked into the turning chain that will hardly be visible.
The color is changed every two rows. To join the new color, while working the very last stitch of the row, pull the new color through when having two loops on your hook. You will then make the turning chain in the new color.
During color changes, the yarn is not fastened off but dropped to pick up later.

Frosting
The frosting is worked into the free loops left at the bottom of the cream part. There were 11 visible free loops.
Slip stitch to the bottom corner of the cream part, 2 half double crochets in first free loop, *(slip stitch in next, 2 half double crochets in next), repeat until 1 loop left, 2 half double crochets in the last loop, slip stitch into the same loop, slip stitch to bottom corner of cream part. Fasten off. Weave in the tails on the back side of the cupcake and not under the frosting as it could unravel easily.
Cherry (Button)
With red yarn, chain 4, slip stitch to first chain to form a chain ring. Working over the yarn tail, 8 single crochets into the chain ring. Pull the tail to close the hole in the middle, slip stitch to first single crochet. Fasten off and weave in the tail for a bit and leave the rest of the tail for sewing the button on.
Finishing
Weave in all the ends on the towel.
Sew the cherry 3 1/2 inches away from the buttonhole. Sew the cupcake right under the buttonhole with a slight overlap. The cherry should sit on its top once buttoned up.
