Instructions
Begin by creating a ring with 4 chain stitches, then slip stitch to join.
Rows to Create the Base
- 1st row: 8 half double crochets, slip stitch at the end of the row (8 sts);
- 2nd row: 2 chain stitches increase, 2 half double crochets in every stitch, slip stitch (16 sts);
- 3rd row: 2 chain stitches increase, * 2 half double crochets in the 1st stitch, 1 half double crochet in the next stitch*, slip stitch (24 sts);
- 4th row: 2 chain stitches increase, * 2 half double crochets, 1 half double crochet in the next 2 stitches*, slip stitch (32 sts);
- 5th row: 2 chain stitches increase, * 2 half double crochets, 1 half double crochet in the next 3 stitches*, slip stitch (40 sts);

Cut the yarn.
First Earflap
- 1st row: 1 chain stitch increase, 10-18 slip stitches, single crochets in the next 14 stitches, chain stitches, turn (14);
- 2nd row: 2 single crochets for decrease, single crochets in the next 10 stitches, the last 2 stitches as single crochets together, turn (12);
- 3rd row: 2 single crochets for decrease, single crochets in the next 8 stitches, the last 2 stitches as single crochets together, 1 chain stitch, turn (10);

Second Earflap
Make in the same way as the first earflap.
Ears
Start with 2 chain stitches.
- 1st row: 5 half double crochets in the 2nd stitch from the crochet hook (5);
- 2nd row: 2 half double crochets around (10);
- 3rd row: 2 half double crochets around (20);
- 4th row: half double crochet, 2 half double crochets (30);
- 5th row: half double crochet around (30);
- 6th row: half double crochet, 2 half double crochets together (20);
- 7th row: 2 half double crochets together (10);
Cut the yarn and sew the ears to the hat.
