You’ll Need:

A small length of red yarn (DK cotton);

A small length of white yarn (DK cotton) or a mini pom-pom or bell;

Crochet hook 2.75mm;

Instructions

Row 1

: Starting with red, make a magic ring (mr) and 5 single crochets (sc) (5)

Row 2

: Single crochet around (5)

Row 3

: 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in the next 4 stitches (6)

Row 4

: Single crochet around (6)

Row 5

: 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in the next 5 stitches (7)

Row 6

: 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in the next 6 stitches (8)

Row 7

: 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in the next 7 stitches (9)

Change to white yarn.

Row 8

: 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in the next 8 stitches (10)

Row 9

: Single crochet around (10)

Pom-Pom Instructions

Row 1

: Make a magic ring (mr) and 5 single crochets (5)

Row 2

: Single crochet in each stitch (5)

Slip stitch into the next stitch and leave a tail. You should have a flat circle.

To turn the circle into a pom-pom, using a yarn needle, weave the yarn tail in and out of the stitches of Row 2, all the way around. Pull the yarn tail to cinch the outer edge of the circle together to form a ball.

Weave in ends.
