You’ll Need:

200g of mohair yarn;

Crochet hook 3 mm.

Instructions

Cast on 108 stitches on the knitting needles 40 cm long in the following way: *1 stitch, marker, 53 stitches for the central part, marker*; repeat from * to * once. Circle the cast-on stitches into a ring and place a marker at the beginning of the row.

Work according to the following description:

1st Row: *1st row according to scheme 1, marker, 1st row according to scheme 2 (17 stitches of pattern repeat x 3 times), marker*; repeat from * to * twice. Continue work, repeating 1st-16th rows according to scheme 2 and 1st-17th rows according to scheme 1 until you have 184 stitches. Turn to longer knitting needles.

2nd Row: *10th row according to scheme 1 (18 stitches of pattern repeat x twice), 2nd row according to scheme 2*; repeat from * to * twice = 188 stitches. Continue working according to scheme 1 from the 1st to the 17th row and according to scheme 2 to the 9th row = 220 stitches. Then, make 10th-17th rows according to scheme 1, repeating 18 stitches of pattern repeat in 8 rows, while also working according to scheme 2 to the 16th row (totally, 8 times) and finish in the 16th row according to both schemes = 680 stitches: 53 stitches of the central part and 287 stitches of the sides. Turn to longer knitting needles as the quantity of stitches increases. Then, work according to schemes 3 and 4.

1st Row (Increases): *According to scheme 3 (repeat 22 stitches of the pattern x 15 times), according to scheme 4 (repeat 19 stitches of the pattern x 3 times)*; repeat from * to * twice = 818 stitches. Continue working according to schemes 3 and 4 to the 4th row, then, repeat 3rd and 4th rows 9 times. Bind off all stitches.

Note: The wrong side (WS) of the work is the right side (RS) of your poncho.

Collar

Cast on 108 stitches from the WS with short knitting needles. Place a marker at the beginning of the row and work as follows:

1st Row: *Knit 2 together, (yarn over) x twice, slip 1 stitch, 1 knit stitch, draw it through the slipped stitch*; repeat from * to * to end of row;

2nd Row: *1 knit stitch, 1 purl through back loop, 1 knit stitch through back loop (in yarn overs), 1 knit stitch*; repeat from * to * to end of row.

Repeat 1st-2nd rows 12 times.

Next Row of Increases: *Yarn over, increase 1 stitch, yarn over, knit 2 together, (yarn over) x twice, 1 knit stitch, draw it through the slipped stitch*; repeat from * to * to end of row = 189 stitches.

Next Row: *3 knit stitches, knit 2 together, (yarn over) x twice, 1 knit stitch, draw it through the slipped stitch*; repeat from * to * to end of row.

Next Row: *Yarn over, slip 1 stitch, knit 2 together and draw it through the slipped stitch, yarn over, knit 2 together, (yarn over) x twice, 1 knit stitch, draw it through the slipped stitch*; repeat from * to * to end of row.

Repeat the last 2 rows 8 times and bind off all stitches.
