Instructions
Front
Cast on 61 (64) sts. Work in Garter stitch for 5 rows. Switch to Stockinette stitch and work until piece measures 10 (11) inches from the cast on edge.
End with a wrong side row.Sleeves
Cast on 44 (46) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, totaling 149 (156) sts. Work in Garter Stitch until sleeve measures 2 (2) inches from the cast on row, ending with a wrong side row.
Shape Neck
Knit 71 (74) sts. Slip next 7 (8) sts onto a holder (for the center of the neck). Attach another skein of yarn and knit 71 (74) sts. Work both sides at the same time in Garter Stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at every neck edge 8 times, resulting in 63 (66) sts. Work until sleeve measures 5 (5) inches from the cast on row. End with a wrong side row.
Back
Knit 63 (66) sts. Cast on 23 (24) for the back neck, then knit 63 (66) sts. Remove the second skein of yarn, maintaining a total of 149 (156) sts. Work in Garter Stitch until sleeve measures 8 1/2 (8 1/2) inches from the cast on row. End with a wrong side row. Bind off 44 (46) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, resulting in 61 (64) sts. Switch to Stockinette Stitch and work until piece measures 10 (11) inches. Work in Garter Stitch for 5 rows. Bind off.
Neck
With the circular needles and right side facing, pick up and knit 23 (24) sts across the back neck, 16 sts across the side of the neck, 8 stitches from the holder, and 16 sts along the other side of the neck, totaling 62 (64) sts. Join together and knit in the round for 10 rows. Bind off loosely.
Finishing
Sew side seams. Weave in ends.
