How to Knit a Stylish Garment with Linen Yarn
You’ll Need
300, 300, 300, 350 g of yarn (with content of linen at least 58%; 150m/50g);
Circle knitting needles 3.5 (80 cm long);
Markers;
Crochet hooks 2.5 and 3.
Size
S, M, L, XL.
Chest circumference: 84, 92, 100, 108 cm.
Length: 60, 62, 64, 66 cm.
Stitches Control
With knitting needles 3.5 and stockinette stitch: 22 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Start with the right edge of the sleeve with straight/reversed rows. Cast on 83, 89, 95, 101 sts with knitting needles 3.5 and knit with stockinette stitch, except the central 81 sts – relief pattern due to the scheme 1 (1st row – wrong side).
Place marker on the central st.
Increase 1 st from both sides in 5 rows (before and after the selvedge sts). Repeat increases in every 4th row – totally, 5 sts on each side. Include them into the ornament.
Then, knit straight for 3 rows. After that, cast on the sts for the side edges. Place a marker and cast on 84, 86, 88, 90 sts at the end of the next 2 rows. There are 261, 271, 281, 291 sts on the knitting needles. Then – knit straight. In 10, 11, 12, 13 cm from the side markers, divide the sts for the sleeve (st from the marker goes to the front part). Finish both parts separately.
Back
Bind off 3, 2, 2, 1, 1 st for the neck-hole along the inner edge. Then, work straight. In 7, 8, 9, 10 cm from the last row, bind off the sts with 10th or 22nd rows of the relief pattern. Place a marker in the center of the next row. Make 7, 8, 8, 10 cm more and cast on the sts for neck-hole rounding in reflection to the back. Leave your work.
Front
Neck-hole rounding: bind off 10 sts and then bind off the sts in the same way as for the back. Place a marker at the same height. Make the second part of the neck-hole in reflection.
Connect them and continue to work on all the sts.
Bind off 84, 86, 88, 90 sts when both your shoulders are at the same height at the beginning of 2 rows from both sides. Make the left row as right, and make decreases instead of increases: 1 st, knit 2 together, to the last 3 sts, slip 1 st, 1 knit st, draw the slipped st through the knit st. Bind off the sts.
Assembly
Make sleeve and shoulder seams.
Bottom Fastening
Make with crochet hook 3 with single crochets along the bottom part: 1 single crochet in the even rows, slip st, and the next row: * 3 chain sts, 1 double crochet, skip 1 single crochet in the previous st, 1 single crochet in the next st *; repeat from * to *. Finish the row with slip st in the 1st st.
Sleeves Fastening
Make with crochet hook 2.5 along the bottom part with single crochets: 1 single crochet in every st, finish with slip st. The next row – in the same way as for the bottom part, but skip 2 sts instead of 1.
Neck-Hole Fastening
Make with crochet hook 2.5 along the bottom part with single crochets: 1 single crochet in every st, 1 single crochet in every 2nd row at the places of bound off sts. Finish the row with slip st and make the next row as the bottom part of the sleeve.
