How to Crochet a Comfortable Pair of Cotton Socks

You'll Need:
2 skeins of 100% mercerized cotton yarn (107m/50g);
Crochet hook size 3.
Instructions
Start by making the toe. Wind the yarn around your finger in a ring and make 8 single crochets, then tighten your ring.
Crochet in a spiral with the main pattern by catching stitches through back loops and making increases following these steps:
- 1st row: 2 single crochets in every stitch = 16 stitches;
- 2nd row: *3 single crochets, 3 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * = 20 stitches;
- 3rd row: *4 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * = 24 stitches;
- 4th row: *2 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * = 32 stitches;
- 5th row: *3 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * = 40 stitches.
Make 10 rows without increases.
After that, increase the stitches from both sides in the following way: 2 single crochets in 1 stitch of the previous row, 19 single crochets, 2 single crochets in 1 stitch, 19 single crochets = 42 stitches.
Make these increases three times in the next 5th row = 48 stitches.
Then crochet straight to the needed length for your heel (about 16-17 cm).
Heel
Divide your work into two parts along the sides and continue working only the stitches of the lower part of the foot - make about 24 rows of straight rows: turn your work, complete 24 single crochets, then turn.
Next, leave 1 single crochet unfinished, until you reach 12 single crochets. Finish these 12 single crochets, and then start making increases: add 1 stitch at the beginning of each row until you have 24 single crochets. Continue crocheting around on all the stitches of the main pattern five times.
Finally, cut and fasten the yarn, then make side seams of the heel.
