Mastering the Brioche Stitch: Techniques and Tips

I know that there can be different names for this stitch, but I like this one. If you know any other names, you can leave your version in the comments below this post.
Note
Given the elasticity of brioche, you should cast on and bind off very loosely.
Knit Version
Instructions
Cast on an even number of stitches.
Set-up row: Knit all stitches.
Pattern row: * K1, k1b; repeat from * to end.
Repeat pattern row until you have reached your desired length.
Purl Version
Instructions
Cast on an even number of stitches.
Set-up row: Purl all stitches.
Pattern row: * P1, p1b; repeat from * to end.
Repeat pattern row until you have reached your desired length.
Abbreviations
- K - knit
- P - purl
- K1b - knit 1 in the row below (insert needle through the center of stitch 1 row below the next stitch and knit, slipping stitch above off needle at the same time).
- P1b - purl 1 in the row below (insert needle through the center of stitch 1 row 1 below the next stitch and purl, slipping stitch above off needle at the same time).

I'm confused with these directions. I was always taught to K1, P1 across row. In the second row, Begin opposite to what the end stitch was such as if the last stich was a knit then start row with a Pearl stitch and work across. Is this wrong?

I don't think, that it's wrong, maybe, the author of this tutorial made some modifications
