A Comprehensive Guide to Two-Colour and Three-Colour Linen Stitch Techniques

Cast on an even number of stitches. Slip stitches purlwise.

Knitting Rows

Row 1 - right side: Knit 1, * slip 1 with yarn in front, knit 1; repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.

Row 2: Purl 1, * slip 1 with yarn in back, purl 1; repeat from * to last stitch, purl 1.

Repeat these two rows.

Two-Colour Linen Stitch

Work with colour A for two rows and colour B for two rows. Repeat these 4 rows.

Three-Colour Linen Stitch

Start with colour A and work Row 1.

Row 2: Colour B.
Row 3: Colour C.
Row 4: Colour A.
Row 5: Colour B.
Row 6: Colour C.

Repeat these 6 rows.

Linen Stitch in the Round

Round 1: * Knit 1, slip 1 with yarn in front; repeat from * around.
Round 2: * Slip 1 with yarn in front, knit 1; repeat from * around.
