Special Stitches

bst – berry stitch: insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull through, chain 3, yo, pull through both loops on hook. (1 bst).

shdc – standing half double crochet:yo, insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, pull through, yo, pull through 3 loops on hook (1 shdc). 

ssc – standing single crochet: insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, pull through, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook. (1 ssc). 

General Notes:

  • Crochet over your ends or weave in after each Round.
  • Stitch counts are in brackets ( ) at the end of each Round.

Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc, 1 ch), 11 dc in 1st ch, sl st to top of beg ch-4. (12 dc, 1 sl st).

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 1, *sc in next st, ch 1*, end with sl st to beg st. (12 sc, 12 ch-1 sps, 1 sl st). Measures 2 ½ in. End off yarn.

Color (Mauve)

Round 3: Ssc in any sc st, *bst in next ch-1 sp, sc in next st*, end with bst in last ch-1 sp, sl st to beg st. (12 bst, 12 sc, 1 sl st). Measures 3 in. End off yarn.

Color (Bone)

Round 4: Ssc in any sc st, *ch 2, sk 1 st, sc in next st*, end with ch 2, sl st to beg st. (12 sc, 12 ch-2 sps, 1 sl st). Measures 3 1/4 in.

Round 5: sl st into ch-2 sp, ch 2 (counts as hdc), dc, hdc in same ch-2 sp, *[hdc, dc, hdc] in next ch-2 sp around, end with sl st to beg st. (12 petals – 24 hdc, 12 dc, 2 sl sts). Measures 4 ¼ in. End off yarn.

Round 6: Sl st to 1st hdc in any petal, *ch 2, dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in next 2 sts*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to end with sl st in beg sl st. (24 ch-2, 12 dc, 25 sl sts). Measures 5 ¼ in. End off yarn.

Color (Bone)

Round 7: Sl st to 1st hdc in any petal of Rnd 5, *ch 3, 3 sc in next dc st, ch 3, sl st to Rnd 5 hdc, sl st in next hdc in Rnd 5*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st in beg sl st in Rnd 5.

(36 sc, 24 ch-3, 25 sl sts). Measures 6 1/4 in.

On the final round, crochet the two flowers together going through the top of the stitches, where indicated. RS of flowers are facing out, WS are inside the potholder. You can weave in your ends on the WS, or simply tuck them inside as you crochet the final round.

Notes – crochet flowers together in this final round of petals.

  • Place flowers together with RS facing.
  • Tuck any loose ends inside or weave them in first.
  • Line up petals of both flowers together. Work into stitches of both flowers to crochet them together in this final round.

Round 8: SL st in two chs of next ch-3 sp, *sc in ch-3 sp, hdc in next st, 3 dc in next, hdc in next st, sc in next ch-3 sp*, repeat *-* around, end with ch 6, sl st in beg sc.

36 dc, 24 hdc, 24 sc, 3 sl sts). Measures 7 1/4 in. End off yarn, weave in ends.
