  • Hobbi.com 100% Cotton Ribbon Yarn in Anthracite Gray (06)
  • 3/4 of a skein (approx. 100 yards)
  • Size N (9mm) Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry/yarn needle (optional: for weaving in ends)

Abbreviations & Special Stitches


  • Ch: Chain.
  • Sc: Single Crochet.
  • Dc: Double Crochet.
  • HHDC: Herringbone Half Double Crochet – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and draw through the stitch AND the 1st loop on the hook, yarn over and draw through remaining loops on hook.
  • Sp: Space.
  • Ss: Slip Stitch.
  • Sts: Stitches.
  • SCBO: Single Crochet in Back Loop Only.

The finished hanging basket measures 6” wide X 14” long while hanging with the weight of vegetables in it.

Make a magic circle (also called magic loop or ring).


Rounds Instructions

Round 1: CH1, 8 HHDC in magic circle; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (8 Sts).

Round 2: CH1, HHDC twice in each st; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (16 Sts).

Round 3: CH1, *HHDC twice in next st, HHDC in next st; repeat from * to end of round; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (24 Sts).

Round 4: CH1, *HHDC twice in next st, HHDC in next 2 sts; repeat from * to end of round; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (32 Sts).
