What You’ll Need to Make Your Baskets
You will need the following materials to make one hanging basket:
- Hobbi.com 100% Cotton Ribbon Yarn in Anthracite Gray (06)
- 3/4 of a skein (approx. 100 yards)
- Size N (9mm) Crochet Hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry/yarn needle (optional: for weaving in ends)
Abbreviations & Special Stitches
- Ch: Chain.
- Sc: Single Crochet.
- Dc: Double Crochet.
- HHDC: Herringbone Half Double Crochet – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and draw through the stitch AND the 1st loop on the hook, yarn over and draw through remaining loops on hook.
- Sp: Space.
- Ss: Slip Stitch.
- Sts: Stitches.
- SCBO: Single Crochet in Back Loop Only.

Rounds Instructions
Round 1: CH1, 8 HHDC in magic circle; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (8 Sts).
Round 2: CH1, HHDC twice in each st; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (16 Sts).
Round 3: CH1, *HHDC twice in next st, HHDC in next st; repeat from * to end of round; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (24 Sts).
Round 4: CH1, *HHDC twice in next st, HHDC in next 2 sts; repeat from * to end of round; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (32 Sts).
Rounds 5-11: CH1, HHDC twice in first st, HHDC in remaining sts until last st, HHDC twice in last st; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (46 Sts at end of round 11).
Rounds 12-15: CH1, SCBO twice in first st, SCBO in remaining sts until last st, SCBO twice in last st; join to beginning ch1 sp with SS (54 Sts at end of round 15).
After joining the last round, ch5 and then cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to weave in. Insert the hook into the same space and pull the tail through to secure.
