Free Crochet Yoga Mat Strap Pattern
There are 4 sections of different color combinations in the strap. You will crochet double-stranded and change the colors in each section.
Instructions
Start with light pink and orange yarns and chain 30. Leave a 5.75 m / 6.3 yds long tail, which you will use to crochet single crochet stitches later on.
Change the colors to yellow and light yellow and chain 19. Leave a 3.75 m / 4.1 yds long tail.
Change the colors to pink and orange and chain 19. Leave a 3.75 m / 4.1 yds long tail.
Change the colors to light pink and yellow and chain 32.
Continue with the light pink and yellow yarns. Starting from the second chain from the hook, insert 30 single crochet stitches (sc) through the back posts of the chain.
In the last sc stitch, don’t pull the last (double-stranded) yarn through. Instead, pull through the new colors. Repeat with other sections later on. This way, the color sections change neatly.
Change the colors to pink and orange (use the yarn tail you left earlier). Insert 19 sc through the back posts of the chain.
Change the colors to yellow and light yellow (use the yarn tail you left earlier). Insert 19 sc through the back posts of the chain.
Change the colors to light pink and orange (use the yarn tail you left earlier). Insert 30 sc through the back posts of the chain.
Make the Loops
The loops are made at both ends of the strap. The easiest way to form the loop is to wrap the strap end around your rolled yoga mat. Then, form a loop around the strap as shown in the photo below. Use the tail ends of the yarn to tie the loop. For the other end with no tail ends, cut around 55 cm / 21.7″ long yarn thread and tie the other loop with it. The loop takes around 9-10 sc stitches. Sew the end of the strap to the 9th or 10th sc stitch.
Make the second loop in a mirror image. Weave in the ends.
