Materials Needed

For this project you will need:

  • HOOK: Any size but I used a 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US
  • YARN: Any size but I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

  • sl st = Slip Stitch
  • st = Stitch
  • sc = Single Crochet
  • dc = Double Crochet
  • Double triple or Quad = Quadruple Crochet
  • * = Repeat what is in between the stars for the rest of the row

| = repeat what is in between the |’s for as many times mentioned.

Multiples of the Stitch

This stitch is done in multiples of 43 + 3.

Getting Started

Ch in multiples of 43 until you reach your desired width, then ch 3 and start.

Row Instructions

Row 1

DC in 5th ch from hook * | ch 5, sk 3 sts, sc, ch 1, sc, | repeat 2 times ch 5, skip 3 sts, dc 1 in next 3 sts. * repeat for row.

Row 2 (First Row of Repeat)

ch 3 and skip 1st st, dc in next st and dc twice on ch 5, * | sc, ch 1 and sc in the next ch 5 space, ch 5 | repeat 1 more time. DC twice into next ch 5 space, dc 1 in next 3 dc’s then dc twice in next ch 5 space, ch 5 * repeat for row. DC in top of ch 4 to end row.

To end the row, you should have 2 dc’s in ch 5 space and then dc in last 2 sts.

Row 3

ch 3 and sk 1st st, DC in next 3 sts, DC twice in ch 5 space * ch 5, sc, ch 1 and sc in next ch 5 space, ch 5, dc twice in next ch 5 space, dc 1 in next 7 sts, Dc twice in next ch 5 space * repeat for row.

To end row you should have 2 dc’s in ch 5 space and then dc in last 4 sts.

Row 4

ch 3 and sk 1st st, DC in next 5 sts, DC twice in ch 5 space * ch 5, dc twice in next ch 5 space, dc 1 in next 11 sts, Dc twice in next ch 5 space * repeat for row.

To end row you should have 2 dc’s in ch 5 space and then dc in last 6 sts.

Row 5

ch 3 and sc in 2nd st of row, ch 5, sk 2 sts, sc , ch 1, sc, ch 5 and dc 3 in next ch 5 space, * | ch 5 skip 2 sts and sc, ch 1, sc | repeat 2 more times. ch 5 and dc 3 in next ch 5 space * Repeat for row.

To end row your last 2 sts should be sc, ch 1, sc.

Row 6

ch 9, then sc, ch 1, sc all in the next ch 5 space. * ch 5 and DC twice in next ch 5 space, DC in next 3 sts, DC twice in next ch 5 space, ch 5 and skip 3 dc’s and sc in next, ch 1 and sc in next, | ch 5, skip 2 sts and sc, ch 1 , sc. | repeat 1 more time. *

To end row QUAD in 2nd ch of ending ch 3.

Row 7

ch 3 and sc into the 2nd ch after the Quadruple crochet. * Ch 5 and DC twice in next ch 5 space, DC in next 7 sts, DC twice in next ch 5 space, sc, ch 1 sc in next ch 5 space * repeat for row.

To end row you work a SC, ch 1, SC into the last ch 5 space.

Row 8

ch 9 and * DC twice in next ch 5 space, DC in next 11 sts, DC twice in next ch 5 space, ch 5 * repeat for row.

To end row after last dc of row, ch 3 and QUAD in 2nd ch of ending ch 3.

Row 9 (Last Row of Repeat)

ch 3 and DC in 2nd ch from QUAD, * | ch 5, sk 2 sts then sc in next, ch 1 then sc in next | repeat 2 more times then ch 5 and DC 3 into next ch 5 space * repeat for row.

To end row do a sc, ch 1, sc into the last ch 9 space.

Repeat rows 2 – 9 until you’ve reached the desired size.
