Materials

Materials: ( I used )

  • 5mm crochet hook
  • Worsted weight yarn: glittering white and lilac ( 200 gr for the sample – size L/ 125 gr or 300 yds per skein )
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/round instead of ch3. Another good crochet technique to use is ch2, dc into the same stitch (counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below, you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/round, so just choose your best technique.

Size and Skill Level

This crochet comfy crop top pattern fits size L (chest size: 36 to 38 inches).

Skill level: Easy

Gauge: 10 double crochet stitches x 5 rows approximately 2 inches (with materials indicated).

Top Construction

Top:

(Make 2 for front and back pieces)

Start with color A yarn

  • R1: Ch 103, dc into 3rd ch from hook (first 2 ch doesn’t count as 1st dc), 101 dc across, 101 sts.
  • R2: Turn, (dc, ch 1, skip 1 st) x 50 times across, dc into the last stitch.
  • R3: Same as R2
  • R4: Turn, change to color B yarn, (sc, ch1, skip next ch1-space) x 50 times across, sc into the last stitch.
  • R5: Turn, change to color A yarn, (dc, ch 1, skip next ch1-space) x 50 times across, dc into the last stitch.
  • R6: Turn, (dc, ch 1, skip next ch1-space) x 50 times across, dc into the last stitch.
  • R7: Turn, change to color B yarn, (sc, ch1, skip next ch1-space) x 50 times across, sc into the last stitch.
  • Repeat (from R5 to R7) x 14 times, until you reach R46.
  • R47: Turn, change to color A yarn, (dc, ch1, skip next ch1-space) x 50 times across, dc into the last stitch.
  • R48: Turn, (dc, ch1, skip next ch1-space) x 50 times across, dc into the last stitch.
  • R49: Turn, dc across, 101 sts (fasten off, weave in ends).

Put front and back parts together, from the wrong side, seam shoulder line with sc (about 20 sts each side).

Seaming and Armholes

Seam body line with sc (about 29 rows from the bottom up).

Armholes: Join yarn and insert hook into the place where you made the last sc of seaming body line.

  • R1: sc around (2 sc into each dc space), sl into 1st stitch to join.
  • R2: dc around (fasten off, weave in ends).

Steam block your finished project if needed.
