Crochet Water Lily Flower Granny Square Pattern

• 6 colors of cotton yarn
• 2.75 mm crochet hook

• ch = chain
• sl st = slip stitch
• dc = double crochet
• tr = treble crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• sc = single crochet
• fpdc = front post double crochet

Round 1: Use yellow yarn. Start with a slip knot and chain 8. Join with a sl st into the first chain to form a ring.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc). Into the ring, make a double crochet, then chain 1. Make a 2 dc cluster: yarn over, pull through two loops, repeat once (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all loops to complete the cluster. Continue with chain 1, and make seven more clusters, each separated by a ch 1. Join with a sl st to the third chain of the starting ch 3. Fasten off yellow yarn.

Round 3: Use pink yarn. Start with a slip knot and attach it in a ch-1 space between clusters with a sl st. Ch 3 (counts as a dc), then work 3 dc into the same space. Drop the yarn, insert the hook into the top of the ch 3, pull the working yarn through to create a puff stitch. Chain 3. Repeat this puff stitch process in each ch-1 space for a total of 8 puff stitches. Join with a sl st to the top of the first puff stitch and fasten off.

Round 4: Use beige yarn. Start with a slip knot, attach within any ch-3 space with a sl st. Inside this space, make a sc, hdc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, hdc, and sc to form a petal. Repeat this petal pattern in each ch-3 space until you complete 8 petals. Fasten off.

Use the next color of your choice. Begin with a slip knot and attach the yarn at the base of a petal. Ch 5, join with a sc in the space between petals. Repeat this around to form a ch-5 loop behind each petal. Fasten off.

Round 6: Use meru color yarn. Begin with a slip knot, attach to any ch-5 loop. In this loop, work: sc, hdc, 2 dc, tr, ch 2, tr, 2 dc, hdc, sc. In front of each puff stitch, work a fpdc around the base of the puff stitch from the previous layer. Repeat in each ch-5 loop creating all petals and fpdc. Fasten off.

Use a new color. Attach yarn at the base of a new petal, ch 6, and secure with a sc between petals. Repeat around. Fasten off.

Round 8: Use green yarn. In every ch-6 space, work: sc, hdc, 2 dc, 2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr, 2 dc, hdc, sc. Make a fpdc around the previous row’s fpdc. Repeat around and fasten off.

Round 9: Use cream yarn. Attach yarn in any ch-6 space. Ch 3 (counts as a dc), make 6 dc in the same space. Add 1 dc into the sc dividing petals. Continue 7 dc in next ch-6 space. In corners (4 total), work ch 2 as you turn to the next petal section. Repeat around. Fasten off.

To add another round, ch 3 (counts as first dc) in each dc around, making 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in corners. Fasten off, weave in ends.
