Cocktail Koala Embellishments

I use worsted weight velvet yarn, and a size 4.00mm hook for all the following. If you don’t have that, you can just use any worsted weight yarn. The embellishments are at your artist discretion! You do not need to make all of them, you don’t have to pick the same color. You can make as many cherries, flowers, etc. Or you can choose to not make some.

Hibiscus Flower

Starting with yellow.
5 sc magic circle. Finish off.
With pink yarn.
Attach to any stitch in the yellow circle.
Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, and sl in same stitch.
Do this to each of the 5 stitches of the yellow circle and finish off and leave tail.
You should have a total of 5 petals.

Pineapple

For the pineapple, you’ll be working in rows instead of continuous rounds.
Using a darker shade of yellow than the cup.
Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring.
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch, ch 1 and turn (12)
Color change to mustard yellow or green.
Round 3: *1 sc, inc* the rest of the row (18)
Finish off and leave tail for sewing. You may weave in the other tails.

Pineapple Leaf

Using green yarn.
Round 1: sc 4 in magic ring
Round 2: *sc, inc* around (6)
Round 3: sc around (6)
Round 4: *2 sc, inc* around (8)
Round 5: sc around (8)
Round 6: *3 sc, inc* around (10)
Round 7: sc around (10)

Assembly

You’ll add the 20 mm eyes about 6-7 stitches apart between rows 7 & 8. Then stuff the head and sew it onto the drink. I left about 4-5 rows of space in the front. Sew on the nose between the eyes. Sew the ears on the head on rows 5-8. Sew or glue the inner ear to the gray ear.
Sew the arms and place them however you like. Attach the toppings/embellishments wherever you want by sewing or gluing. You can add a cocktail umbrella to finish it off. See pictures below for examples of various placements.
To make it extra chonky, you can add as many rows you want to the cup as long as the last row before you add the white is 48 stitches.
