How to Crochet a Christmas Tree

- 2.50 mm crochet hook

- 100% cotton yarn for a 2.50 mm hook

- Tapestry needle

- Polyfiber fill

- Three colors for the tree.

- Yellow for the star on the top.

Start with a magic ring

1. 6 sc into the ring and close.

2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (12)

3. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (24)

4. Crochet *3 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase)*, repeat * (30)

5. Crochet *4 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase)*, repeat * (36)

6. Crochet *5 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase)*, repeat * (42)

7. Crochet *6 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase)*, repeat * (48)

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends. Set aside.

Start with a magic ring

1. Crochet 6 sc into the ring and close.

2. Crochet 6 sc.

3. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (12).

4. to 6. Crochet 12 sc.

7. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase)*, repeat * (18)

22. to 25. Crochet 36 sc.

26. Crochet *5 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase)*, repeat * (42)

27. to 28. Crochet 42 sc.

29. Crochet 3 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase), *6 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase)*, repeat * 5 times, 3 sc (48)

30. Crochet 48 sc.

Stuff firmly.

31. Place the base over the opening of the tree as a lid, matching the stitches on the tree with those of the base. Join both pieces together by crocheting 1 sc into each pair of stitches (48).

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.

Start with a magic ring

1. Crochet 5 sc into the ring and close.

2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (10)

3. Crochet *1 slst, 1 hdc + 1 dc + 1 hdc in the same stitch, 1 slst*, repeat *

You will end up with a 5-tip star.

Fasten off yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

- Sew the two stars together with the tapestry needle and then secure it to the tip of the tree.

- Using yellow yarn, embroider little stars to the tree.

- Weave in all ends inside the tree.
