Materials Needed
You will need:
- Cotton DK weight yarn in green and brown
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Wool needle
- Ribbon
Stitches and Abbreviations
- Ch - chain
- Sl st - slip stitch
- dc - double crochet
- BLO - work in back loop only
Instructions for the Tree
Starting in green yarn and work each stitch in BLO through the pattern until told to stop:
Make a magic ring and work 4dc into the ring. 4 sts
Rnd 1: (dc in the first two sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 6 sts
Rnd 2-12: 2dc in the first two sts, dc in each st to the end. 30 sts at end of rnd 12
Rnd 13: (dc2tog, dc in the next three sts) repeat to end. 24 sts stop working in BLO now.
Rnd 14: (dc2tog, dc in next two sts) repeat to end. 18 sts
Rnd 15: (dc2tog, dc in next st) repeat to end. 12 sts
Stuff firmly now.
Rnd 16: (dc2tog) repeat to end. 6 sts
Fasten off and sew closed the hole at the bottom of the tree.
Create the Leaves
Re-join to round 1 with matching yarn to the loop created by work in BLO st.
Rnd 1-12: (ch2, dc) in each st to the end.
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
Instructions for the Base
Starting in brown yarn, make a magic ring and work 6dc into the ring. 6 sts
Rnd 1: 2dc into each st to the end. 12 sts
