Starting Rows

Row 1: With MC ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch.

Row 2: Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch. Turn and sl st in ch 3 loop of first row, ch 3, 3 dc in same loop.

Row 3: Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch. Turn and sl st in ch 3 loop of row 2. Ch 3, dc in same loop, sl st in next ch 3 loop, 3 dc in same loop.

Row 4: Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch. Turn and *sl st in ch 3 loop of row 4. Ch 3, 3 dc in same loop. Repeat from * to end of row.

Row 5-17: Repeat row 4. At the end of row 17, ch 1 and turn.

Decreasing Rows

Now you will start the decreasing

Row 18: Sl st in top of the 3 dc's, sl st in ch 3 sp, 3 dc in loop. * Sl st in next ch 3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same loop. Repeat from * across to last ch sp, sl st in ch 3 sp, ch 1 and turn.

Row 19: Sl st in top of 3 dc's, sl st in ch 3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same loop, *sl st in next ch 3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same loop. Repeat from * across to last ch loop. Sl st into last loop. Ch 1, turn.

Row 20-35: Repeat row 19.

Row 36: Sl st in 3 dc's. Ch 1, turn.

Row 37: Sc in same sp as ch 1, and evenly across. Finish off, weave in ends. (50 sc)

Final Rows

Row 38: With CC join with sl st in first sc, ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (50 sc)

Row 39: (To decrease - draw up a loop in each of the next two sc, yo, pull through all three loops on hook) Work sc decrease across. Ch 1, turn. (25 sc)

Row 40-49: Decrease over the first 2 sc, sc in each st across until last 2 sc, decrease over last 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 50-62: Sc in each sc across, ch 1 turn. (5 sc)

Row 63: This will be for the button hole: Sc in first sc, ch 3, skip next 3 sc, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 64: Sc in the first sc, sc in each of the next 3 chs, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 65: Decrease over the first 2 sc, sc in next st, decrease over last 2 sc. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

Edging

SC evenly around entire towel, working 3 sc in each corner.

Join with sl st to first sc of edging. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Fold over top of towel to mark and sew button.
