Crochet Fox Granny Square Patterns

Materials

Dk / weight 3 yarn: I used Paintbox Simply DK in Slate Green for the background colour (276 metres per 100g) and various different colours for the animals.

4ply yarn in black and white for the eyes on the 4, 5 and 6.5” sizes.

3 and 4 mm crochet hooks

Gauge

9 dc x 4 rows = 2” x 2”

Eyes

If making small, medium, and large use a 3mm hook and black 4 ply yarn.

If making extra large, use dk black yarn and a 4mm hook.

Round 1: In a magic circle, ch1, 6 sc, slst to the first and pull tight. (6)

Fasten off with a long end for sewing. Sew one white line for small, medium and large and two white lines for extra large.

Make circle in orange

Small 4” / Medium 5” Square

Nose

With black:

Row 1: Make a magic circle, ch1, 6 sc into the circle, slst to the first. (6)

Change to white

Rows 2-5: ch1, hdc 1. (1) Turn.

After row 5 fasten off, skip 1 stitch, join white yarn and repeat rows 2-5.

Fasten off and sew the black part of the nose to the bottom of the last row of orange and the white to each side along the last row of orange.

Ears

Make two starting with orange:

Row 1: ch6, sc in the second chain from hook, sc 4. (5) Turn.

Row 2: ch1, sc2tog, sc 1, sc2tog. (3) Turn.

Row 3: ch1, sc all. (3) Turn.

Change to black:

Row 4: ch1, sc2tog, sc 1. (2) Turn.

Row 5: ch1, sc2tog. (1) Fasten off with a long end for sewing.

Large 6.5” Square

Nose

With black:

Row 1: Make a magic circle, ch1, 8 sc into the circle, slst to the first. (8)

Change to white:

Rows 2-6: ch1, hdc 2. (2) Turn.

After row 6 fasten off, skip 1 stitch, join white yarn and repeat rows 2-6.

Fasten off and sew the black part of the nose to the bottom of the last row of orange and the white to each side along the last row of orange.

Ears

Make two starting with orange:

Row 1: ch7, sc in the second chain from hook, sc 5. (6) Turn.

Row 2: ch1, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog. (4) Turn.

Row 3: ch1, sc all. (4) Turn.

Row 4: ch1, sc2tog x 2. (2) Turn.

Change to black:

Row 5: ch1, sc all. (2) Turn.

Row 6: ch1, sc2tog. (1) Fasten off with a long end for sewing.
