Crochet Hook

D (3.25 mm) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge.

Gauge

19 dc and 8 rows to 4”/10 cm.

Note

Be sure to check your gauge before starting to crochet. If the gauge is larger, change to a smaller hook size, or work tightly. If it is smaller, change to a larger hook size, or work loosely.

Finished Measurements

Approx. 6.5”/ (16.5 cm) square.

Special Stitch

Picot = Ch 3, sl st into third ch from hook.

Notes

  1. Ch 3 at beginning of rounds count as dc throughout.
  2. Ch 1 (ch 2) at beginning of rounds does not count as st throughout.
  3. To avoid mistakes, count stitches in each round when finished.

With MC, ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rounds

Rnd 1: Ch 4, work (dc, ch 1) 7 times in ring; join with sl st in third ch of beg ch 4 – 8 dc and 8 ch-1 spaces.

Rnd 2: Slip st in first ch-1 space, ch 1, sc in same ch-1 space, ch 4, * sc in next ch-1 space, ch 4; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 8 ch-4 spaces.

Rnd 3: Drop MC, join A, slip st in first ch-4 space, ch 1, (sc, 4 dc, sc) in same space, and in each ch-4 space around; join with slip st to first sc – 8 petals.

Rnd 4: Drop A, with MC, ch 1, work BPsc around first sc on Rnd 2, ch 5, * BPsc around next sc on Rnd 2, ch 5; rep from * around; join with slip st to first BPsc – 8 ch-4 spaces.

Rnd 8: Drop A, with MC, ch 1, work BPsc around first BPsc on Rnd 6, ch 5, * BPsc around next BPsc on Rnd 6, ch 5; rep from * around; join with slip st to first BPsc – 8 ch-5 spaces.

Rnd 9: Ch 2 (does not count as dc), 7 dc in next ch-5 space, ch 3, * (7 dc in next ch-5 space) twice, ch 3; rep from * around twice, end 7 dc in last ch-5 space; join with sl st to first dc – 56 dc and 4 ch-3 spaces.

Rnd 10: Ch 2, * dc in each dc to next ch-3 space, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 space; rep from * around, end dc in last 7 sts; join with sl st to first dc – 72 dc and 4 ch-3 spaces.

Rnd 11: Drop MC, with A, ch 2, * dc in each dc to next ch-3 space, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 space; rep from * around end dc in last 9 sts; join with sl st to first dc – 88 dc and 4 ch-3 spaces. Cut A.

Rnd 12: With MC, ch 2, * dc in each dc to next ch-3 space, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 space; rep from * around end dc in last 11 sts; join with sl st to first dc – 104 dc and 4 ch-3 spaces.
Fasten off. Secure yarn to WS.
