Crochet Jacket Instructions Using Mélange Yarn

You’ll Need:

200g of mélange Reggae yarn (100% sheep wool; 100m/50g);

100g of the same yarn, but in orange, red, green, and blue colors;

Crochet hook 4.5;

3 buttons.

Size:

S (M).

Note:

Make front and back from rectangular pieces. Create a lower placket along the lower edge of the jacket. Sleeves should be made across.

Used Patterns

Main Pattern:

1 row of single crochets with mélange yarn, 1 row of double crochets with colorful yarn; in RS rows make bpdc, and in WS rows – fpdc.

Big Rectangular:

Make 43 chain sts + 1 chain st increase with mélange yarn.

1^st row: 3 single crochets in the last of 43 chain sts, the 2^nd single crochet forms a corner loop, then 1 single crochet in the next 41 chain sts. Make 6 single crochets in the 1^st chain st, where the 2^nd and 5^th single crochets form another corner stitch; then 1 single crochet along the opposite side of the set-up chain equals 41 single crochets. Finally, make 2 single crochets in the last chain st of the set-up row, where the 2^nd single crochet forms another corner loop, totaling 94 sts. Finish circle row with 1 slip st in chain st increase. Work with the main pattern, making 3 sts in the corner sts in every circle row (increase 8 sts). In 4 rows from the set-up row, finish your work.

Small Rectangular:

Make in the same way as the big rectangular but with a set-up chain of 29 chain sts + 1 chain st increase.

Stitches Control:

Main pattern: 13 sts x 9 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Big rectangular: 9 x 38 cm;

Small rectangular: 9 x 29 cm.

Instructions

Back:

Make 4 rectangulars and connect them along the long sides with single crochets and mélange yarn.

Left Front:

Make 1 big and 1 small rectangular and connect them with single crochets and mélange yarn. For the side stripe, make 4 (8) rows of the main pattern on the lower 17 (18) sts above the arm-hole, then join it with 1 row of single crochets to the lower 17 (16) sts of the back.

Right Front:

Make in symmetry to the left front.

Lower Placket:

Make 18 cm = 16 rows of the main pattern along the lower edge (105 (115) double crochets in the 1^st row and finish your work.

Sleeves:

Make 36 (38) chain sts + 1 chain st increase with mélange yarn and work with the main pattern. For front sleeve chamfer, start the first 4 rows of double crochets, 3 single crochets, and 4 half crochets from the right side. In 39 cm = 35 rows (41 cm = 37 rows) from the set-up row, start the next 4 rows of double crochets from the right side with 3 single crochets and 4 half crochets for back sleeve chamfer. In 48 cm = 43 rows (50 cm = 45 rows) from the set-up row, finish your work.

Assembly:

Make shoulder seams; sew up the sleeves, and complete sleeve seams. Fasten all edges with 1 row of slip sts using mélange yarn. For upper and lower loops, make 10 chain sts with double mélange yarn, sewing the start and end to the right front from WS. For the central loop, make 4 chain sts and circle it with 1 slip st.

1^st row: 8 single crochets;

2^nd row: make 2 single crochets in every st. Then, make 10 chain sts and join it to the 1^st st of the 2^nd row. Finally, sew on the buttons.
