Step-by-Step Guide to Crocheting with Chain Stitches and Double Crochets

Row Instructions

1st Row

Skip 3 chain stitches (this counts as 1 double crochet), *work 2 center double crochets (Cdc) over the next 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet into the next chain; repeat from * to end, then turn.

2nd Row

Begin with 3 chain stitches (counting as 1 double crochet), then make 1 double crochet into the first stitch. Skip 1 double crochet, *1 double crochet into the next chain, work 2 center double crochets over the next 3 double crochets, repeat from * ending with 1 double crochet into the last chain, skip 1 double crochet, and make 2 double crochets into the top of the turning chain; turn.

3rd Row

Begin with 3 chain stitches (counting as 1 double crochet), skip 1 stitch, *work 2 center double crochets over the next 3 double crochets, then 1 double crochet into the next chain; repeat from * ending the last repeat into the top of the turning chain, then turn.

Repeat Instructions

Continue repeating the instructions for the 2nd and 3rd rows as needed.
