Zigzag Patterns

Make all zigzag patterns according to the schemes, where only RS rows are stated; make WS rows as sts face.

Start with 1 selvage st, pattern repeat, finish with st after pattern repeat and 1 selvage st. The 3rd and 7th rows mean decrease rows.

Zigzag pattern A: The quantity of sts is multiple of 18 + 1 + 2 selvage sts. Repeat 1st-2nd rows.

Zigzag pattern B: The quantity of sts is multiple of 16 + 1 + 2 selvage sts. Repeat 5th-6th rows.

Zigzag pattern C: The quantity of sts is multiple of 14 + 1 + 2 selvage sts. Repeat 9th-10th rows.

Stripes Orders

Stripes order B: *2 black rows, 2 mustard rows*; repeat from * to *.

Stitches Control

20 sts x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 129 (147) sts with black yarn and make 1 cm of wrong-side pattern for the placket. Then, work with zigzag pattern A according to scheme A. In 15 cm = 32 rows from the placket, make the 1st row of decreases (= 3rd row of the scheme) for side chamfers = 101 (115) sts. After that, work with zigzag pattern C. In 59 cm = 124 rows from the placket, bind off 1 x 8 (9) sts from both sides for shoulder chamfers, then bind off 2 x 7 (9) sts in every 2nd row. In 62 cm = 130 rows from the placket, bind off the rest 57 (61) sts. The central 43 sts form the neck-hole, outer 7 (9) sts – shoulders.

Front

Make in the same way as the back, but in 54.5 cm = 114 rows from the placket, bind off the central 11 sts for the neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 6 sts, 1 x 4 sts, 1 x 2 sts, and 4 x 1 st in every 2nd row from inwards. In 62 cm = 130 rows from the placket, bind off the rest 7 (9) sts of the shoulder.

Sleeves

Cast on 59 (73) sts with black yarn and make the placket in the same way as for the back. Then, work with zigzag pattern C according to stripes order B. At the same time, increase 14 x 1 st in every 6th row, starting from the placket from both sides for chamfers, including increased sts in pattern = 87 (101) sts. In 43 cm = 90 rows from the placket, bind off all sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. For the collar, cast on 92 sts along the neck-hole with mustard color yarn and circular knitting needles and make 4 circle rows of purls and 4 circle rows of knit sts by turn. At 24 cm height, bind off all sts as knit sts. Sew up the sleeves. Make side and sleeve seams.
