The quantity of sts is multiple 6 + 3.

Set-up row: 1 knit st, 1 purl, * 2 knit sts, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

1st row (RS): 1 knit st, slip 1 st, * 2 knit sts, slip 1 st*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

2nd row: 1 knit st, 1 purl, * 2 knit sts, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

Repeat the 2nd row x one more time;

5th row: 1 knit st, slip 1 st, * 5 knit sts, slip 1 st*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

6th row: 1 knit st, 1 purl, * 5 knit sts, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

Repeat the last 2 rows x one more time;
