Crochet Stitch Patterns for Beginners

The quantity of stitches is a multiple of 4 plus 1 chain stitch increase.
1st Row (Right Side): Sc into the 2nd chain from the hook and each chain to the end; turn;
2nd Row: Chain 1, single crochet into the first stitch and each stitch to the end, skip the turning chain, turn;
3rd Row: Chain 1, draw the loop on the hook up to approximately the height of double treble crochet; keeping the loop on the hook and not allowing it to change size through yarn slippage, insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over, draw the loop through; repeat from * to end keeping all lace loops on the hook.
At the end, remove all except the last lace loop from the hook, yarn over and draw the loop through, turn;4th Row: *Always insert the hook through the next 4 lace loops together and work 4 single crochets into these 4 loops; repeat from * to end, turn.
Repeat rows 2-4, ending by making the 2nd row twice.
