Introduction to Crochet Stitch Techniques

Any number of stitches (add 2 for base chain).

Note: Work all rows with the right side facing. For example, work even-numbered rows from left to right.

Row Instructions

1st Row (Right Side)

Skip 3 chains (which count as 1 double crochet), and double crochet into each chain to the end.

2nd Row

For this row, chain 7, and slip stitch into the front loop only of the next double crochet to the right. Repeat from * ending with chain 7 and slip stitch into the top of the turning chain at the beginning of the row. Do not turn.

3rd Row

Begin with chain 3 (which counts as 1 double crochet), skip the first stitch, and double crochet into the back loop only of the next and each stitch of the second-to-last row to the end. Do not turn.

Repeating Rows

Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows as needed.
