Step-by-Step Guide to Crochet Sts Patterns for Beginners

The quantity of sts is multiple of 6 + 1.

Set-Up Row

Ch 1 (turning chain), 2 sc, ch 3, sk 3, sc 3. *Ch 3, sk 3, sc 3. Continue along the length of the chain from * until 5 stitches remain. Ch 3, sk 3, sc 2.

1st Row

Ch 1, (turn) 7 dc into chain space. *Sk 1, sc 1, sk 1, 7 dc into chain space.
Continue from * until one stitch remains. Sc 1 in last stitch.

2nd Row

Ch 4 (turn), sk 3, sc 3, *ch 3, sk 5, sc 3. Continue from * until 2 stitches remain: Ch 1, sk 1, dc 1.

3rd Row

Ch 3 (turn), dc 3 into chain space. *Sk 1, sc 1, sk 1, dc 7 into chain space. Continue from * until 3 stitches and one chain space remain. Sk 1, sc 1, sk 1, dc 4 into last chain.

4th Row

Ch 1 (turn), sc 2, ch 3, sk 5. *Ch 3, sk 5, sc 3. Continue from * until 6 stitches remain. Ch 3, sk 5, sc 1.

Repeat 1st-4th rows.
