Essential Crochet Techniques: Short and Long I Cord Patterns









You'll Need:
Red Heart With Love in bluebell and white colors;
Crochet hook 2.5 mm.

Short I Cord:
Chain 24, skip 2 stitches and slip stitch 22 in next stitches below.Long I Cord:
Chain 32, skip 1 stitch and slip stitch 31 in next stitches below.Instructions
First, make the foundation chain of (multiples of 12) + 3.
In the video I’ve made 27 chains.Row 1:
Skip 3 and make half treble crochet (htr) 1 in each chain below.Row 2:
Chain 3, * htr 3 in next stitches below, chain 1, skip 1 stitch, htr 3 in next stitches below, chain 1, skip 1 stitch and htr 4 in next stitches below **. Repeat * to ** till the end of the row.Row 3:
Make chain 4, skip 1 stitch, * htr 3 in next stitches below all joined together.Crochet a Short I Cord (1). Insert the cord in Row 1, below the first empty space of the Row 2 (2-3). Slip stitch to join the start of the cord with the end of it (4).
Make htr 3 in next stitches below. Crochet a Short I Cord.
Pull it below the first cord (1). Then, insert the cord in Row 1, below the second empty space of the Row 2 (2-3). Slip stitch to join the start of the cord with the end of it (4).
Make htr 4 in next stitches below **. Repeat * to ** till the end of the row.
Row 4:
Same as Row 2.Row 5:
Make chain 3, skip 1 stitch, * htr 3 in next stitches below all joined together.Crochet a Long I Cord.
Spin it twice in the right side of the cord below (1-2-3). Slip stitch to join the start of the cord with the end of it (4).
Make htr 3 in next stitches below. Crochet a Long I Cord.
First, insert the cord in the blue cord alongside (1). Then, spin it twice in this side of the cord below (2-3-4). Slip stitch to join the start of the cord with the end of it (5-6).
Make htr 4 in next stitches below **. Repeat * to ** till the end of the row.
Repeat Row 4 and Row 5 until you reach the desired size for your pattern.
