Knitting Instructions for a Mohair Sweater Design


You’ll Need:
350 (400) 450g of yarn with mohair content (130m/50g);
Knitting needles 3.5.
Size:
S (M) L.
Length: 72 cm.
Used Patterns:
- 2 x 2 rib;
- Relief pattern: the quantity of sts is multiplied by 16 + 1 selvedge st. Work according to the scheme. Make wrong-side rows according to the ornament, yarn overs – as purls. Repeat 1st-8th rows;
Wrong-side: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit sts.
Stitches Control:
On relief pattern: 23 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back
Cast on 114 (122) 130 sts and work in rib, starting with the WS row: 1 selvedge st, * 1 knit st, 2 purls, 1 knit st*; repeat from * to * to the end of the row, finishing with 1 selvedge st.
In 6 cm, switch to the relief pattern: 1 selvedge st, 7 pattern repeats, (1 selvedge st, 4 sts before pattern repeat, 7 pattern repeats, 4 sts after pattern repeat, 1 selvedge st), 1 selvedge st, 8 pattern repeats, 1 selvedge st.
Knit straight for 61 cm. Bind off 5 sts x 1 from both sides for shoulders, then, 5 sts x 2 in a row, 6 (7) 8 sts x 4.
Bind off the central 18 sts for the neck-hole after 63 cm. Finish each part from a separate skein. Bind off 3 sts x 3 for smooth rounding in every even row.
Left Front
Cast on 39 (43) 47 sts and work in rib, starting from the WS row: * 1 purl, 2 knit sts, 1 purl*; repeat from * to * to the end of the row, with 1 selvedge st.
In 6 cm, switch to the relief pattern: 1 selvedge st, 2 pattern repeats, 4 sts after pattern repeat, 1 purl, 1 selvedge st, (1 selvedge st, 4 sts before pattern repeat, 2 pattern repeats, 4 sts after pattern repeat, 1 purl, 1 selvedge st), 1 selvedge st, 2 pattern repeats, 1st-13th sts of pattern once, 1 selvedge st.
Knit straight to the desired height – see the schemes. Repeat the scheme of the back for shoulder chamfers.
Right Front
Work in reflection to the left front.
Sleeves
Cast on 50 (54) 54 sts and work in rib, starting from the WS row: 1 selvedge st, * 1 purl, 2 knit sts, 1 purl*; repeat from * to * to the end of the row, finishing with 1 selvedge st.
Increase 1 st x 10 in every 8th row from both sides, 1 st x 10 in every 6th row, (1 st x 4 in every 8th row, 1 st x 18 in every 6th row), 1 st x 20 in every 6th row, 1 st x 4 in every 4th row. This results in 90 (98) 106 sts.
At 47 (46) 45 cm height, bind off the sts.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams. Lift 404 sts for the placket using a crochet hook: 180 sts of each half of the front, 44 sts of the neck-hole line on the back.
Work in rib, starting from the WS row: 1 selvedge st, * 2 purls, 2 knit sts*; repeat from * to *, finishing the row with 2 purls, 1 selvedge st.
After 6 cm, bind off the sts according to the ornament. Sew the sleeves and make side and sleeve seams.
