How to Sew a Cosmetic Bag with Zipper and Ruffles

You’ll Need:

Small sheets of canvas, muslin, cotton fabrics;

Zipper about 12 cm long;

Threads;

Vlieseline G 710;

Scissors;

Pins;

Needle;

Ruler.

Instructions

Cut Out:

From Muslin:

• A (Edging for the ends of the zipper) - 2x (without allowances);
• B (Upper part of the cosmetic bag) - 2x (with allowances of 1 cm);
• C (Ruffle with a fold) - 2x (with allowances of 1 cm).

From Canvas:

• D (The lower part of the cosmetic bag with a fold) - 1x (with allowances of 1 cm).

From Lining Fabric:

• E (Cosmetic lining with fold) - 1x (with allowances of 1 cm).

Preparation Steps:

Detail A: Fold in half (to a length of 4 cm) and iron.

Then, iron both side cuts (3 cm long) onto the wrong side, 1 cm wide.

Pin the stitches to the ends of the zipper and stitch them.

Duplicate parts B with G 710 gasket and iron one long cut on the wrong side by 1 cm on each of them.

Stitch the zipper under the ironed edges.

Creating the Ruffle:

Fold each frill C to a size of 4 x 30 cm and trim it.

At a distance of 3 cm from the fold, lay two stitches with a large stitch.

Ruffle evenly up to the length of the makeup bag (14 cm) and pin and sew by hand to the bottom of the makeup bag (D) on both sides.

Assemble the Bag:

Stitch the upper part of the cosmetic bag with the zipper (from step 2) to the lower part of the cosmetic bag with ruffles (from step 4) with the front side facing the front side.

Open the zipper and make side seams at a distance of 1 cm. Unscrew the cosmetic bag.

Finish the Lining:

Make side seams on lining E, iron the upper cut of the lining on the wrong side by 1 cm and sew it by hand to the beauty bag.
