Helping our users. ​Fisherman's Knit Sweater for Baby-Boy.

You'll need:

1½ 4-oz. Skeins 4-ply Knitting Worsted;

Knitting needles 6;

Knitting needles 10.


Size: 1—2 and 3 years.


Gauge: 4 sts to 1 in.


Instructions

Back

With size 10 needles cast on 44 sts (2 yr. 48 sts—3 yr. 52 sts). Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 6 rows then work in pattern as follows:

Row 1 (right side)—P 4, (2 yr. P 6—3 yr. P 8), K 4, * P 4, K 4; repeat from * ending P 4, (2 yr. P 6—3 yr. P 8).

Row 2—K 4, (2 yr. K 6—3 yr. K 8), P 4, * K 4, P 4; repeat from * ending K 4, (2 yr. K 6—3 yr. K 8).

Repeat above 2 rows working a cable twist over the ribs of K 4 on the 5th and every 6th row there­after as follows: slip the first 2 sts on D P N, hold in back of work, K next 2 sts then K the 2 sts from D P N.

Work in pattern until piece measures 5½ in. (2 yr. 6 in.—3 yr. 7 in.) or desired length to underarm. Bind off 3 sts at beg, of each of next 2 rows for underarm, (2 yr. 4 sts—3 yr. 5 sts). Work even until piece measures 2 in. (2 yr. 2½ in.—3 yr. 3 in.). Starting on right side, continue in pattern over the first and last 7 sts, (2 yr. 8 sts—3 yr. 9 sts) and work the center sts in garter st, for 8 rows. Bind off 7 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows for shoulders. Bind off remaining sts for back of neck.


Front

Work as given for back.

Sew shoulders tog. across bound off sts.


Sleeves

With size 10 needles on right side of garment, pick up 32 sts, (2 yr. 36 sts—3 yr. 40 sts). Work in pattern as follows:

Row 1—K 6, (2 yr. K 7—3 yr. K 8); P4; K 12, (2 yr. K 14—3 yr. K 16); P 4; K 6, (2 yr. K 7—3yr. K 8).

Row 2—P 6, (2 yr. P 7—3 yr. P 8); K 4; P 12, (2 yr. P 14—3 yr. P 16); K 4; P 6, (2 yr. P 7—3 yr. P 8).

Repeat above 2 rows working a cable twist over the ribs of K 4, until sleeve measures 6 in., (2 yr. 7 in.—3 yr. 8 in.) or desired length to cuff. Change to size 6 needles and P 1 row on wrong side decreasing to 26 sts, (2 yr. 28 sts—3 yr. 30 sts). Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 6 rows. Bind off. Sew sleeve and underarm seams.
