Create a Stylish Sweater with Merino Wool and Mohair Yarn




You'll Need:
300g of 100% Merino wool yarn (175m/50g) of crimson color;
150g of yarn (80% mohair, 20% synthetic; 245m/25g) of crimson color;
A little bit of contrast yarn;
Knitting needles 4 and 4.5.

Wrong side: in right-side rows - all knit stitches, in wrong-side rows - all purls;
1 x 1 rib;
"Relief diagonal" pattern: is made on 25 stitches according to the scheme;
Double rib: is made with auxiliary yarn 1/2 of the needed quantity of stitches. Then, knit with the main yarn:
- 1st row: * 1 knit stitch, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to * to end of row;
- 2nd row: * yarn over in 1 knit stitch, slip 1 stitch as purl (yarn in front of work)*; repeat from * to * to end of row;
- 3rd row and all following rows: * 1 knit stitch, slip 1 stitch as purl (yarn in front of work)*; repeat from * to * to end of row.
Bind off the contrast yarn in the finished sweater.
Stitches Control
with 2 threads of yarn (woolen + mohair) on the stockinette stitch 18 stitches x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.Instructions
Make all the details with double thread: woolen yarn + mohair.
Back
Cast on 101 stitches with knitting needles 3. Knit 4 rows of double rib, then 16 rows of 1 x 1 rib. In height, you should get 6 cm of work. Turn to knitting needles 4.5. Start with stockinette stitch and decrease 16 stitches in the 1st row. Then, knit straight to 37 cm height. For making armholes, bind off 3 stitches x 1 along the edges of the detail, 1 stitch x 3 in all even rows. Make decreases, starting from the 4th stitch from the edge of work and finishing before the last 3 stitches. At 55 cm, bind off the rest 73 stitches (including 14 stitches for each shoulder).
Front
Cast on 101 stitches with knitting needles 4 and make 4 rows with double rib. Then, turn to knitting needles 4.5 and knit according to the following description: 25 stitches of 1 x 1 rib, 25 stitches of "relief diagonal" pattern, 1 stitch of stockinette stitch, 25 stitches of "relief diagonal" pattern, 25 stitches of 1 x 1 rib. After knitting to 6 cm, knit according to the following scheme: on sides, edges - 25 stitches of stockinette stitch, the rest stitches - according to the pattern. Pay attention that you should decrease 8 stitches from each side in the 1st row, so there are 17 stitches left. Bind off 1 stitch x 19 at 33 cm for forming the neck-hole. At 55 cm bind off the rest 14 stitches for each shoulder.
Sleeves
Cast on 51 stitches with knitting needles 3 and make 4 rows with double rib. Turn to knitting needles 4.5 and knit in the following way: 13 stitches of 1 x 1 rib, 25 stitches of the main pattern, 13 stitches of 1 x 1 rib. In 6 cm start knitting the edging 13 stitches with stockinette stitch from both sides. Totally, there are 45 stitches in work. Then, for sleeve widening, increase 1 stitch x 10 in every 10th row from both sides. At 50 cm start making sleeve cap. Bind off 3 stitches x 1, then 1 stitch x 10 in every even row. In 10 cm bind off the rest 39 stitches.
Assembly
Make shoulder seam. Lift 177 stitches with knitting needles 4 and double thread yarn and make 1 x 1 rib of 16 cm height. Then, make 2 rows of double rib and bind off the stitches. Make all the rest seams.
