Rnd 1: Work 28 foundation sc (see Special Stitch), place marker (see Pattern Notes), 2 sc in same ch as last sc, place marker, working on opposite side of foundation sc, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st, place marker, sc in same st, do not join. (60 sc)

Rnd 2: 3 sc in next st (corner), *sc in each st across to next marker, 3 sc in marked st (corner), rep from * around, ending last rep at *.

Rnds 3 & 4: Sc in each st around with 3 sc in each center corner st. (84 sc at end of last rnd)

Rnd 5: Working in back lps, sc in each st around, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg sc.

Rnd 6 (RS): Ch 1, sc in first st, ch 3, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, turn, 3 sc in ch sp just worked, sl st in next st, turn, working behind ch sp, sc in each of last 2 sk sts, [ch 3, sk next worked st and next 2 sts, sc in next st, turn, 3 sc in ch sp just worked, sl st in next sc, turn, working behind ch sp, sc in each of last 2 sk sts] around, join in beg sc, turn.

Rnd 7 (WS): Ch 1, 2 sc in first st behind ch sp, sc in next st, [2 sc in next st behind ch sp, sc in next st] around, join in beg sc, turn.

Next rnds: Rep rnds 6 and 7 alternately until piece measures 9 3/4 inches from rnd 4, ending with WS rnd.

Next rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join in beg sc.

Next rnds: Rep previous rnd 3 times.

Last rnd: Working from left to right, ch 1, reverse sc (see Fig. 1) in each st around, join in beg reverse sc. Fasten off.

Strap

Make 2.

Rnd 1: Work 100 foundation sc, 2 sc in same ch as last sc, place marker, working on opposite side of foundation sc, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st, place marker, sc in same st, do not join.

Sew 1 inch on each end of Straps to inside at top of Bag as shown in photo.
