Abbreviations
- st – stitch
- sts – stitches
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- tr – treble crochet
Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn. I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colors (106) Snow White and (208) Yellow Gold.
- A crochet hook; I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends and stitch the centre to the flower.
- Scissors.
Crochet Water Lily Sizes
Large Water Lily
Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook:
7cm wide x 7cm high or 2.75” wide x 2.75” high
Medium Water Lily
Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook:
5.5cm wide x 5.5cm high or 2.25” wide x 2.25” high
Small Water Lily
Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook:
4.5cm wide x 4.5cm high or 1.75” wide x 1.75” high
Flower Centre Instructions
Using (208) Yellow Gold, make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 5 sc in the circle. Pull the circle tight and join with a sl st in the front loop of 1st st. (5 sts)
Row 2: (3 ch, miss 1st ch, 1 sl st in each of last 2 ch, sl st in front loop of next st) 5 times.
Row 3: Sl st in back loop of 1st st of row 1, (3 ch, miss 1st ch, sl st in each of last 2 ch, sl st in back loop of same st, 3 ch, miss 1st ch, sl st in each of last 2 ch, sl st in back loop of next st of row 1) 5 times. Fasten off. I left a long tail to join it to the flower.
Flower Instructions
Using (106) Snow White, make a magic loop.
Row 1: 1 ch, work 8 sc in the circle. Pull the circle tight and join with a sl st in the front loop of 1st st. (8 sts)
Row 2: (7 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in each of the following 3 ch, 1 sc in last ch, sl st in front loop of next st) 8 times.
Row 3: Sl st in back loop of 1st st of row 1, (8 ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in following ch, 1 tr in each of the next 3 ch, 1 hdc in last ch, sl st in back loop of next st of row 1) 8 times. Fasten off.
Finishing Touches
Weave in ends. Attach the centre to the middle of the flower.
