Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
130 grams of Stylecraft Special Aran yarn in colour 1
170 grams of Stylecraft Special Aran yarn in colour 2
70 grams of Stylecraft Special Aran yarn in colour 3
6.50mm crochet hook for main part, 5.50mm hook for border
UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Made in multiples of 20 + 11.
With colour 1 make 91ch, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each of next 9ch, * before you finish the last dc join in colour 2, crocheting over colour 1 and bringing it along with you, work 1dc into each of the next 10dc, before you finish the last dc join in colour 1, crocheting over colour 2 and bringing it along with you, work 1dc into each of the next 10dc,* Rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (9 blocks)
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, continue alternating the blocks of colour as set for the next 9 rows. (Making it 10 rows per block)
11th Row – With colour 2 make 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 1dc into each of next 9dc, before you finish the last dc join in colour 3, alternate blocks of colours 2 and 3 every 10 stitches carrying the yarn with you by crocheting over it as before, always ending with colour 2 for the next 10 rows. Turn.
21st Row – With colour 1 make 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 1dc into each of next 9dc, before you finish the last dc join in colour 2, alternate blocks of colours 1 and 2 every 10 stitches as before, always ending with colour 1 for the next 10 rows. Turn.
Repeat in colour block sequence between the 11th & 21st Rows until your blanket is eleven blocks high and so that the first and the last blocks of rows are the same colours. Turn.
Border – With 5.50mm hook and colour 1, start with 1ch, work 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc across top of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end down first side, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of the starting chain, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end up second side, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Working 3dc into corners, start with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of dc around blanket, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
