Crochet Baby Keychain Tutorial

• Yarn: Milk cotton yarn (skin color, pink for baby girl, blue for baby boy, dark brown or black for hair, black for eyes).
• Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm.
• Stitch marker.
• Small needle (for sewing features and closing sections).
• Keychain rings and jump rings.
• Scissors.
• Stuffing (Polyfill).
• Blush powder or fabric paint (optional, for cheeks).

• SC: Single crochet.
• HDC: Half double crochet.
• Inc: Increase (two stitches in the same stitch).
• Dec: Decrease (combine two stitches into one).
• BLO: Back loop only.
• MR: Magic ring.

• Use stitch markers to keep track of the first stitch in each round.
• For decreases, crochet into the front loops only of each stitch to make invisible decreases.
• When switching yarn colors, pull through the new color before completing the final step of the last stitch.
• Secure and hide all yarn tails to ensure a neat finish.

Gauge is not critical for this project, but maintaining consistent tension will ensure your keychains look proportional.

Each finished keychain is roughly 5 cm in diameter and 7 cm tall.

• Round 1: Using skin color yarn, start with an MR. Make 8 SC into the ring and pull the yarn tail to close. Place a stitch marker in the first stitch.
• Round 2: Inc in each stitch around (16 SC).
• Round 3: (3 SC, Inc) x4 (20 SC).
• Rounds 4-6: Work 1 SC in each stitch around (20 SC per round).
• Round 7: (3 SC, Dec) x4 (16 SC).
• Round 8: (2 SC, Dec) x4 (12 SC). On the last Dec, change yarn color (pink for the girl or blue for the boy). Stuff the head lightly with polyfill.

• Round 10: BLO: (2 SC, Inc) x6 (24 SC).
• Rounds 11-14: SC in each stitch around (24 SC per round).

Cut the yarn, thread the tail onto a needle, and go through the front loops only of the 6 remaining stitches. Pull the yarn tightly to close the hole. Secure and hide the tail inside the body.

Use pink yarn and attach to the loops of Round 10. Work 18 HDC around the loops, beginning with a chain 2. Slip stitch at the first stitch to join, chain 1, and cut the yarn.

Cut 15 cm of black yarn and use a needle to sew eyes at Round 5, leaving 4 stitches between them. Double tie the yarn tails at the back and cut.

Make a slip knot with skin color yarn and chain 2, then cut the yarn to form a tiny ear piece. Make 2 ears and attach them to Round 5, positioned 3 stitches from each eye.

Cut 10 cm of skin color yarn and sew a small stitch between the eyes using a needle.

Cut dark brown (or black) yarn into 15 cm strands. Attach with a needle by inserting yarn into the back of the head, leaving tails on top to form the "hair."

Use pink yarn, make a slip knot, and chain. Join the chain with a slip stitch. Repeat to form a bow, wrap yarn tails around the center, double tie, and attach to the head.

Open a jump ring and attach it to the top of the head. Clip on a keychain ring. Ensure the ring is secure by tightening it properly.

Apply blush beneath the eyes using powder or fabric paint for a cute finish.
