Notes
Always skip a double crochet (dc) between stitches in the brown circle.

Square Background
With Blue:
Ch 5 and join in 1st ch to make a circle.
Round 1:
Ch 3, 2 dc in ch 5 circle, *ch 3, 3 dc in ch 5 circle,* repeat from * to * 2 more times. Ch 3 and join in top of 1st ch 3. Slip stitch (sl st) to the next ch 3 space.
Round 2:
Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in corner ch 3 space. Ch 2, *3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 2 in next ch 3 space.* Repeat from * to * twice and join in top of ch 3. Sl st to next ch 3 space.
Round 3:

Sunflower Center
With Brown:
Leave a 6 inch tail. Ch 5. Join in the 5th chain from hook to form a circle. Ch 3, do 14 dc in circle and join in top of ch 3. Fasten off, also leaving a 6 inch tail.
Attach the brown center to the center of the square with the 2 - 6 inch tails, leaving the end behind the square to weave in later.

With Yellow:
Round 6:
2 sc in any ch 3 corner. *Do HCDC1 into nearest dc in brown circle. Do 2 sc in same corner. Sc in next 3 dc, 2 sc in ch 2 space, sc in next 3 dc, 2 sc in ch 2 space, sc in next 2 dc. HCDC2 in brown circle (see note), sc in next dc, 2 sc in next ch 2 space, sc in next 3 dc. 2 sc in corner.* Repeat from * to * 3 times, not doing the last 2 sc in the corner. Join to the 1st sc. Fasten off and weave all ends in.
Variations
Daisy Variation:
Use yellow instead of brown for the center and white instead of yellow for the petals and border.

Use yellow instead of brown for the center and red instead of yellow for the petals and border. Use pine green for the square.
