Create Beautiful Tiny Sunflowers: A Fun Crochet Project for All Skill Levels

Crocheting a tiny sunflower is not only a fun and relaxing activity but also a delightful way to add a touch of sunshine to your day! The intricate details of each petal and the vibrant yellow color make these little sunflowers a joy to create. Whether you're a seasoned crocheter or just starting out, this project is perfect for all skill levels.

As you work on each stitch, envisioning the beauty of a sunflower in full bloom can't help but bring a smile to your face. These charming creations can be used as appliques, embellishments on clothing, or even as adorable keychains to brighten up your belongings. So grab your crochet hook, some yellow yarn, and let your creativity bloom with these lovely tiny sunflowers!

Materials

Use any yarn and a suitable hook. I used sport weight yarns in yellow and brown and a 3 mm crochet hook.

Stitches/Abbreviations

  • ** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed
  • st/sts - stitch/stitches
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • sc - single crochet
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet

Instructions

Using brown, make a magic ring.

Round 1:

Ch 1, 10 sc into ring. Do not join.

Round 2:

2 sc in each st (20 sc)

Pull yellow through the loop and start working using yellow.

Round 3:

**sc in next st, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sc in next st on round 2** Repeat from ** to ** 9 more times.

Round 4:

Sl st in next sc, sc in 5 sts moving up the petal, picot (ch 3, sl st in 1st ch) at the top of petal, sc in 5 sts coming down the petal, sl st in 2 sc. Repeat around. Join with a sl st to the beginning of round and cut off yarn. Weave in all the loose ends.

The flower needs blocking to straighten the petals that would otherwise curl inwards.
