Materials Needed

  • Hand towels
  • F Hook
  • G Hook

Preparation

Cut hand towels in half across the width of the towel. Now you have two pieces.

Using the F & G Hooks

F Hook Instructions

With the F Hook, crochet with single crochet (sc) across the top edge of the towel you just cut.

G Hook Instructions

  1. Chain 2, turn, and make 1 half double crochet (hdc) in each stitch across.
  2. Chain 2, then make *1 double crochet (dc) in each of the next 3 stitches, and 2 double crochet together (dctog) in the next stitch; repeat from * across.
  3. Chain 2, then make *1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches, and 2 dctog in the next stitch; repeat from * across.
  4. Repeat row 3.
  5. Chain 2, then make *1 dc in the next stitch, and 2 dctog in the next stitch; repeat from * across.
  6. Chain 2, then make *2 dctog; repeat across.
  7. Repeat row 6, and do not finish off.

You should have 4-8 stitches left (I usually have 6 stitches left including the chain 2).

Topper Hanger Instructions

  1. Rows 1-10: Make 1 dc in the next stitch, chain 2, and turn.
  2. Row 11: Make 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches, chain 1, skip 1 stitch, and make 1 dc in each of the last 2 stitches.

Finish off and sew a button on the front of row 4. Hang the topper around door handles or refrigerator handles and button in place.
