Pattern Notes
The top of the hat is worked in spiral single crochet. Do not join rounds, but work stitches in a continuous spiral until the shell section is reached. Use a thread marker to note the beginning of rounds.

Corkscrew Topper
Ch 60, thread the beginning end of the chain through the top center of the hat, then proceed to form corkscrew:
Work 3 sc in each chain across, skipping over stitches where the chain is threaded through the top of the hat. Fasten off. Twist the chain to form corkscrew trim.
