Row 1 - sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 4 chs, *skip next 2 chs, sc in next 5 chs, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 5 chs* repeat from *to* 3 times, sk next 2 chs, sc in next 3 chs, 2 scs in last ch, ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-5 - 2 scs in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, *sk 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, 3 scs in next st, sc in next 5 sts* 3 times, skip next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, 2 scs in last st, ch 1, turn.

Working in Back Loop Only Now

Rows 6-11 - 2 scs in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, *sk 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, 3 scs in next st, sc in next 5 sts* 3 times, skip next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, 2 scs in last st, ch 1, turn.

Rows 12-14 - changing to contrasting color work, 2 scs in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, *sk 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, 3 scs in next st, sc in next 5 sts* 3 times, skip next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, 2 scs in last st, ch 1, turn.

Rows 15-20 - changing to main color work, 2 scs in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, *sk 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, 3 scs in next st, sc in next 5 sts* 3 times, skip next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, 2 scs in last st, ch 1, turn.

Working Now in Both Loops

Rows 21-25 - 2 scs in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, *sk 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, 3 scs in next st, sc in next 5 sts* 3 times, skip next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, 2 scs in last st, ch 1, turn. At end of row 25, fasten off.

Do not fasten off 2nd dishcloth.

Finishing

Place both pieces together with wrong sides facing each other. With main color, sc through both thickness around all 4 sides, and join with a sl st to 1st sc. Fasten off main color. Attach contrasting color in the top corner and sc in each st around. Join to 1st sc, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each remaining ch. Stick the hook back into 1st sc, and then into the 1st st of the potholder, and fasten off.
