Crochet Donut Granny Square Design

- Worsted weight yarn in beige, chocolate, mint, and a small amount of variegated pink (I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice for all of these)
- Size H crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
Donut
Begin with a slip knot in beige, Ch 10, sl st in first Ch to form a ring.
Round 1:
Work 12 Dc in the ring, sl st to join, Ch 2.
Round 2:
2 Dc in each st around (24 sts), sl st to join, Ch 1.
Round 3:
*2 Sc in first st, Sc in next st*, repeat from * around, sl st to join, finish off, weave ends.
Frosting
Begin with a slip knot in chocolate (or any other color for frosting), Ch 10, sl st in first Ch to form a ring.
Round 1:
Work 12 Dc in the ring, sl st to join, Ch 2.
Round 2:
*3 Dc in first st, sl st in next st*, repeat from * around, sl st to join, finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Sprinkles
Using a piece of variegated yarn (or several smaller pieces of multicolored yarn), thread a tapestry needle and sew on “sprinkles” about 1cm long all the way around the frosting, finish off, weave ends.
Assembling the Donut Granny Square
*At this point use your long frosting tail to sew sprinkled frosting onto the donut base.*
Granny Square
Round 1:
With a new color, sl st into the top right corner of the donut, all in the same st: CH 2, 2 DC, CH 3, 3 DC, CH 1, skip 3 sts, 3 DC in the next st, CH 1, *3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC, CH 1, skip 3 sts, 3 DC in the next st, CH 1*, repeat from * twice more forming a square, sl st to beginning CH 2.
Rounds 2-3:
Continue in this same manner – in corners 3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC, CH 1 and in all other CH spaces 3 DC, CH 1, finish off, weave ends.
