Pattern
RND 1: With C1, Ch 5, join in a circle, ch 3, 9 dc in the circle, join, ch 3 (10 dc)
RND 2: 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each dc, join, ch 3 (20 dc)
RND 3: 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each dc, join, ch 3 (40 dc)
RND 4: 1 dc in the next 2 dc, *2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 3 dc* Repeat from * to * around, join, ch 3 (50 dc)
RND 5: 1 dc in the next 3 dc, *2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 4 dc* Repeat from * to * around, join, ch 3 (60 dc)
RND 6: 1 dc in the next 4 dc, *2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 5 dc* Repeat from * to * around, join, (70 dc)

Chick Feet
Join C2 to the 38th st from the right, *Ch 10, join in the same st with a slst* Repeat from * to * 2 more times, slst in the next 3 sts, Repeat from * to * 3 times, tie off and weave in your ends.
Chick Beak
CR: 1 - With C2, ch 2, 2 sc in the end ch from the hook, turn, ch 1 (2 sc)
R: 2 - 2 sc in each sc, turn, ch 1 (4 sc)
R: 3 – 1 sc in each sc, turn, ch 1 (4 sc)
R: 4 – 2 sc in the 1st sc, 1 in the next 2 sc, 2 sc in the last sc, turn, ch 1 (6 sc)
Turn sc evenly down the side of the beak, sc, ch 1, sc in the beak point, sc evenly up the side of the beak, sc, ch 1, sc in the corner, evenly sc across the top of the beak, sc, ch 1, sc in the corner. Join in the 1st sc, tie off leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn.
Place the beak on the front of the chick and sew in place with the yarn tail. With black yarn, stitch 2 French knots for the eyes.
Flowers: Make 3
Ch 2, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join to the 1st sc, *Ch 7, slst in the next sc* Repeat from * to * 5 more times for 6 flower petals. Tie off, leaving a 10 inch tail of yarn for sewing on the pot holder.
Sew flowers on as shown in the picture.
