Solid Version
Lily® Sugar’n Cream® (70.9 g/2.5 oz; 109 m/120 yds) Red (00095) or Mod Green (01223) or Hot Green (01712) or Hot Pink (01740) 1 ball (23 m/25 yds)
Note: 1 ball makes approx 4 Trees.
Solid Version only: Rick-rack trim, ribbon, sequins, and buttons for embellishments.
Size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Length of Satin ribbon for hanging loop
Star shaped buttons.
Striped Version

Approx 3½" [9 cm] wide x 6" [15 cm] tall.
Instructions
Solid Version
Tree (make 2)
Cast on 18 sts.
1st row: (RS). Knit.
2nd row: Purl.
3rd row: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
4th row: As 2nd row.
Rep last 4 rows to 4 sts.
Next row: Purl.
Next row: ssk, K2tog.
Next row: P2tog.
Break yarn, pull through remaining loop, and fasten securely.
Stem
Cast on 4 sts.
Knit 5 rows (garter stitch). Cast off.
Striped Version
Tree (make 2)
Work as given for Solid Version, working in Stripe Pattern as follows:
Work 4 rows in A.
Work 4 rows in B.
These 8 rows form Stripe Pattern.
Stem
With B, work as given for Solid Version.
Finishing
With WS together, sew around side and bottom edges of Tree. Sew Trunk to bottom edge of Tree as shown in the picture. Sew star shaped button to point and attach ribbon for hanging loop as shown in the picture.
Solid Version only: Embellish Tree with your choice of buttons, sequins, ribbon, or rick-rack trim.
