How to Knit a Mini Sweater with Sock Yarn






You’ll Need:
Yarn: Scraps of sock/fingering weight yarns in various colors. Little sweater takes 24 yards of yarn, not including embellishment;
Double-pointed knitting needles 2.5 mm;
Stitch markers;
Tapestry needle;
Decorative elements.
Stitches Control:
9 stitches and 13 rows per 1 inch (2.5cm) square.
Size:
Laid flat, sweater is 4 inches (10 cm) from sleeve to sleeve and 1 7/8 inches (5.75cm) wide at chest, and 2 1/4 inches (5.5cm) from neck to hem.
Instructions
Body
Cast on 16 sts, distribute sts onto double pointed needles, and join in the round being careful not to twist. Mark BOR with pin-style marker.
Rnds 1 - 3: (k1, p1) 8 times.
Rnd 4: kfb, k1, kfb, pm, kfb, k3, kfb, pm, kfb, k1, kfb, pm, kfb, k3, kfb. 24 sts.
Rnd 5: knit.
Rnd 6: (kfb, k to 1 sts before next marker, kfb, sm) 3 times, kfb, k to last st, kfb. 8 sts increased - 32 sts.
Rnd 7: knit.
Rnds 8 - 15: Repeat Rows 6 & 7 four more times. 64 sts.
Rnd 16: place 15 sts on holders or scrap yarn, knit 17, place next 15 sts on holders or scrap yarn, knit 17 and mark as new BOR. 34 sts.
Rnds 17 - 25: knit.
Rnds 26 - 28: (k1, p1) 17 times.
Bind off in rib pattern.
Sleeves
Make 2.
Pick up 15 sts from holders and attach working yarn to gap where join rejoined the body stitches.
Rnds 1 & 2: knit.
Rnd 3: k2tog, k to last 2 sts, k2tog. 13 sts.
Rnds 4 & 5: knit.
Rnd 6: k2tog, k to last 2 sts, k2tog. 11 sts.
Rnds 7 - 10: knit.
Rnds 11 - 13: (k1, p1) 5 times, k1.
Bind off in rib pattern. Weave in ends and block if desired.
Embellish as desired using duplicate stitch, beads, etc…
