Create a Stylish Crochet Dog Collar and Bowtie with Detailed Instructions

You’ll Need:

Worsted Weight Yarn (4) White - C1, Black - C2

Crochet hook H.

Size: 9 inch dog neck

3 chs = 1 inch


Notes

Ch1 does not count as a stitch.

Join with a slip stitch.

Instructions

Bib

1st Row: Ch 30 with C1, Sc in each chain, join in a circle with a slip stitch, and ch 1 (30 sc)

For a 9 inch, 3 x 9 = 27 + 3 chs = 30

You will need to + or - chains for your dog's neck measurement.

2nd Row: 1 sc in first 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, *1 sc in the next 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc*, repeat from * around, join, ch 1 (40 sc)

3rd Row: 1 hdc in first 20 sts, ch 1, turn (20 hdc) (this is halfway around; if you added or subtracted stitches for your dog's neck measurement, you will need to do the same here)

4th Row: 1 hdc in each stitch, ch 1, turn (20 hdc)

5th-8th Rows: repeat the 4th row

9th Row: Stitch together the first 2 hdc, 1 hdc in each st, except for the last 2 hdc, stitch together the last 2 hdc, ch 1, turn (18 hdc)

10th-12th Rows: repeat the 9th row.

Tie off and weave the end in after the 12th row.

Collar

Attach C1 to the top of the collar, even with the main part of the bib.

(7 sc for a 10 inch neck; adjust for your dog's neck measurement) at the front of the bib, ch 1, turn

2nd Row: 1 dc in first 2 sts, 1 hdc, 4 sc back to the end, ch 1, turn

3rd Row: 4 sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, tie off. Repeat for the other side of the collar.

Repeat 1st-4th rows on the other side.

Button Tab

1st Row: With C2, Ch 15, 1 sc in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in remaining chains (14 sc)

2nd Row: 1 sc in each sc, tie off. Place on the front of the bib down the center and sew in place.

Buttons: Make 2 or more.

With C2, make French knots for buttons down the front of the tab.

Trim

With C2, attach yarn to the bottom center of the back of the collar band, sc around the collar band, down the side and around the bottom, then back up the other side, returning to the center of the collar band, tie off, weave end in.

Bowtie

1st Row: With black yarn, Ch 10, 1 sc in 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn (10 sc)

2nd Row: 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn

3rd-6th Rows: repeat the 2nd row, tie off leaving a 10 inch tail of yarn.

Wrap several times around the center of the bowtie, and tie snugly. Attach to the bib in the center of the collar.
