Back
Cast on 85 stitches using the Italian method with knitting needles size 4, then change to knitting needles size 5 and knit 30 cm = 72 rows with the relief pattern. Decrease 5 x 1 stitch in every 9th row from both sides for side chamfers = 75 stitches. Increase 5 x 1 stitch in every 5th row from both sides = 85 stitches. In 67 cm = 163 rows from the beginning, bind off 1 x 3 stitches, 2 x 2 stitches, and 1 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row from both sides for arm-holes. In 16 cm = 38 rows from the beginning of the arm-hole, bind off the central 19 stitches for neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For a smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 4 stitches, 1 x 3 stitches, 1 x 2 stitches, and 1 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row from inwards. In 19 cm = 46 rows from the beginning of the arm-hole, bind off the remaining 15 stitches.
Front
Cast on 52 stitches using the Italian method with knitting needles size 4 and purple yarn, 5 stitches with violet yarn, and 28 stitches with purple yarn, working in the same way as the back, but with a deeper neck-hole. For this, in 11 cm = 26 rows from the beginning of the arm-hole, bind off the central 11 stitches, then bind off 2 x 3 stitches in every 2nd row, 2 x 2 stitches in every 4th row, and 4 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row.
Left Sleeve
Cast on 43 stitches using the Italian method with knitting needles size 4 and purple yarn, then change to needles size 5 and work with the relief pattern, increasing 7 x 1 stitch in every 15th row from both sides = 57 stitches. In 48 cm = 116 rows from the beginning of work, bind off 1 x 3 stitches, 2 x 2 stitches, and 6 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row from both sides (2 x 2 stitches in every 4th row and 1 x 1 stitch, 1 x 2 stitches, and 1 x 3 stitches in every 2nd row) for the sleeve caps. In 62 cm = 148 rows from the beginning of work, bind off the remaining 11 stitches.
Right Sleeve
Cast on 26 stitches in the Italian way with knitting needles size 4 and purple yarn, 5 stitches with violet yarn, and 12 stitches with purple yarn, then follow the same instructions as for the left sleeve.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams; cast on 88 stitches along the neck-hole with circular knitting needles and work with a 2 x 2 rib. In 9 cm = 22 rows, bind off the stitches. Sew up the sleeves and make side and sleeve seams. Finally, sew the rose brooch to the waist.
