​Thanksgiving Crochet Wreath

You’ll need:

1 skein Homespun Yarn in Sunshine State (373) and Ranch (326), 2-3 oz of Covered Bridge Red (367), 3-4 oz Red Heart Super Saver Yarns in White (0311), Cornmeal (320) and Pumpkin (254);

Crochet hook H;

Yarn needle;

Fiberfill;

Florist U pins;

Craft Glue;

12” Styrofoam wreath;

Fabric paint in the following colors: White, Red, Yellow and Black.

Stitches control: Large Candy Corn: 1-1\2”” wide at the base and 2-1\2” tall;

Small Candy Corn: 1” wide at the base and 2” tall; Leaf: 3” at widest point, 3-1\2” tall.


Instructions

Small Candy Corn

RND 1: With White and H hook ch-2, work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)

RND 2: Sc ea st around, join Cornmeal, fasten off White, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.

RND 3: (2 sc next st, sc next st) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (9 sts)

RND 4: Sc ea st around, join Pumpkin, fasten off Cornmeal, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.

RND 5: (2 sc next st, sc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)

RND 6: Sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, fasten off.

Small Candy Corn Bottom

RND 1: With Pumpkin and H hook ch-4, sc 2nd ch from hook, sc next ch, 3 sc last ch, turn piece so you are now working across the bottom of the foundation ch (in bottom of sts just made), sc next, 2 sc last, sl st top beg sc, fasten off. (8 sts)

Lightly stuff corn and sew on bottom.

Leaf

ROW 1: With Homespun yarn and H hook ch-7, sc 2nd ch from hook, sc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)

ROW 2: 2 sc next st, sc ea st across to last st, 2 sc last st, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)

ROW 3-4: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn

ROW 5-11: Sk 1st st, sc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (7 sts)(6 sts)(5 sts)(4 sts)(3 sts)(2 sts)(1 st)

ROW 12: Sc only st, fasten off.

Turkey

ROW 1: With Ranch and H hook ch-2, work 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch-1, turn. (3 sts)

ROW 2: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn

ROW 3: Sk 1st st, sc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (2 sts)

ROW 4: Sk 1st st, sc last st, ch-1, turn. (1 st)

ROW 5: 2 sc only st, ch-1, turn. (2 sts)

ROW 6: 2 sc next 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)

ROW 7: 2 sc 1st st, sc next 2 sts, 2 sc last st, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)

ROW 8-10: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.

ROW 11: Sk 1st st, sc next 3 sts, sk next st, sc last st, fasten off. (4 sts)

Turkey Wing

Make 2.

ROW 1: With Ranch and H hook ch-2, sc 2nd ch from hook, ch-1, turn. (1 st)

ROW 2: 2 sc only st, ch-1, turn. (2 sts)

ROW 3: 2 sc next 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)

ROW 4: (Sk 1st st, sc next st) twice, ch-1, turn. (2 sts)

ROW 5: Sk 1st st, sc last st, fasten off. (1 st)

Assembly

Make 10 small candy corns. Make 3 leaves in Sunshine State and 2 leaves in Cover Bridge. Wrap the Styrofoam wreath in Ranch, adding stripes if you like. Add the small candy corns to to the bottom of the wreath with florist U pins. Fan out the leaves alternating color to be the turkey’s tail feathers. Pin to wreath with the U pins. Pin the turkey’s boy on top and centered on the leaves. Sew or glue on the wings. Add details to the turkey with fabric paints.
